Among them, it is worth mentioning the cooling system, which fulfills the function of controlling the engine temperature. This task is critical, as one of the main problems arising from engine overheating is casting various internal parts.

The thermostatic valve plays a vital role in the operation of the vehicle’s cooling system. Before explaining how this part works, it is necessary to point out the temperature control mechanism based on heat exchange between the engine frame and the coolant. This way, when the engine heats up when it comes into contact with the liquid at a lower temperature, its temperature decreases.

In other words, the cooling system uses this principle for its operation. In this regard, the thermostatic valve, also known as a thermostat, performs the work of controlling the circuit of this system, allowing or not the exchange of heat between the engine fluid and the radiator. This component has, in its composition, an expansive wax with specific dilation. When starting the engine, this part remains closed. With that, the temperature starts to rise gradually until reaching values close to 90 degrees. At that moment, the valve opens, and the engine circuit is interconnected to the radiator circuit, allowing heat exchange and temperature control.

Why Not Remove The Thermostatic Valve?

As already mentioned, the thermostatic valve just like in Blackhawk supply fulfills an essential function within the engine’s cooling system, as it controls the passage of the coolant through the engine circuit to the radiator. A common mistake in auto repair shops is removing this part for the engine to work “better.” Some mechanics perform this procedure to prevent the engine from overheating due to valve problems.

However, this practice can cause other problems for the driver. One of them is the increase in fuel consumption. Without the valve, the coolant circulates simultaneously through the radiator system and the engine block, causing the operating temperature to remain below ideal. This means that to keep the engine running, the fuel supply in the combustion chamber becomes greater, increasing consumption.

In addition, the engine ends up losing efficiency since its best performance is in temperature ranges close to 90 degrees. With smaller values, the engine ends up being slower and with reduced power. Therefore, never remove the thermostatic valve from your vehicle. If there is any problem, prefer to replace or exchange the part’s components. This will ensure the safer operation of the car’s cooling system.
