Every homeowner wants to have a well-maintained lawn. The lush green grass is appealing and gives you a homely feeling.  And because there must be a price to pay for anything good, a carpet-like lawn can become a reality if you put in the hard work it deserves.

A manicured lawn receives adequate water and care throughout the year. To have an award-winning yard in your home, seek sprinkler installation services near you and get professional assistance. A well-manicured garden can also appreciate your property’s worth to prospective buyers.  This read will help you get started in all matters of sprinkler systems and your lawn care.

A Sprinkler system

You may have the traditional soaker hose pipe that you drag from the water source to the lawn. Whereas this is a good beginning, it may not give satisfactory results. After all, the horse pipe can be a pain moving around and can also mess up your newly planted grass and flowers.

Shift gears and invest in a new sprinkler for efficiency. It also saves on water bills leaving your property spic and span.

Why ditch the soaker hose over the sprinkler?

A lawn sprinkler is a better alternative for your desired lawn results and your wallet. Here’s why you should ditch the hose.

It’s tiresome – A soaker hose needs you to move around as you water the lawn. However, a sprinkler has an overhead rotary system that you can strategically place on the ground. You can move it from one point to another to ensure the entire garden gets watered.

Has no timer – You can set the sprinkler system to allow a specific period to water a particular area in the lawn. A lawn attendant can access the ground’s water needs and set the sprinkler timer to go on and off according to need.

On the other hand, it is at the attendant’s discretion to decide the lawn has enough water and move it to another spot. Therefore, the yard does not get water uniformly.

It’s inconveniencing – A soaker hose can drench the attendant as it needs to be moved from one location to another. The attendant must be careful how they maneuver the hose; otherwise, one can get wet and muddy. However, a sprinkler is relatively clean, and one does not need to get dirty and wet when setting it.

Limited features – A soaker hose has no sensor, timer, or other features to help attendant care for the lawn. A sprinkler system has digitized features allowing the  attendant convenience while working.

Can be an eyesore – A soaker hose can be unsightly on the lawn. The hose has to criss cross your garden and stretch its entire length to reach target areas. Additionally, it can cause accidents to children and pets playing in the yard.

On the contrary, a sprinkler system has a head that pops out of the ground to irrigate the lawn and disappears when there’s sufficient moisture. Choose an irrigating scheme that matches your home’s aesthetics.

Needs an attendant in the ground – a soaker hose needs someone in the yard to turn on the water, connect the pipes and change the rotations as the need arises. However, homeowners can set the sprinkler system to start irrigation at the optimum time landscape experts recommend. One can remotely run the sprinkler even if they’re away from their home and eliminate the need to hire someone to attend to your yard.

A homeowner can choose the features they need for their systems, such as a bubbler, Bluetooth controller, dripline, sensor, timer, and more. The sprinkler system is technically a smart solution for all your irrigation problems.

In a nutshell, a sprinkler system saves the lawn attendant time, money and affords them the privilege to embrace technological advancement in the lawn.

About Rain Sensors And Timers

A rain sensor is a timely addition to the irrigation options in the garden. You can purchase a sprinkler with a rain sensor or have it installed in your existing irrigation system.

How a rain sensor works

A rain sensor can detect the moisture content in the ground. Typically, it can tell the wet ground from dry soil. Immediately you plant the sprinkler on the lawn, the sensor can determine the amount of water needed and goes off once the soil is well soaked. Once the yard is saturated, the sensor automatically turns off the irrigation cycle.

Should it start raining, the sensor detects the temperature decrease and shuts the sprinkling system. The attendant does not need to go to the lawn to turn off the water. This enhances efficiency and convenience.

Some homeowners prefer a sprinkler system with a timer over the sensor. Some options are also remote-controlled or the internet manipulated via Wi-Fi. Timers and sensors are environmentally friendly because you can decide when to water the lawn and the volumes you need in any particular area.

Demerits of using a sprinkler system

  1. Cost – Perhaps one of the primary reasons many homeowners do not have a sprinkler system is an expensive investment. However, sprinkler installation services have different customer-friendly options that suit your needs.
  1. Landscape damage – A sprinkler system should be installed in the ground before landscaping the yard. The sprinkler is installed by digging up the soil, burying it along the yard’s perimeter, and attaching it to the main water source. If you have already established your yard, you need to consider other activities that may interfere with the current land cover.

  1. Other accompanying repairs – Installing an underground sprinkler system requires other items such as controllers, electronic components, timers, automatic head function, and more. You also need a trained technician to help with the installation technicalities involved.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. Call an irrigation expert service provider near you to help you strategize on the transformation plan for your lawn. A sprinkler system is a smart irrigation option that saves time, money, stress and gives you efficiency and convenience.
